IT HAPPENED IN MILFORD WEEK 28

During the French and Indian Wars (1757 and 1758 ) companies of British Troops were quartered here at the town's expense. The town voted to have two houses provided for the king's troops.

In 1898 trolley tracks were installed and a trolley line in the center of town opened. The first trolley to reach Milford from Bridgeport was met by a brass band and a general celebration. Later that year tracks were extended to Woodmont. Connections could then be made to the West Shore Railway. A trip to New Haven took seventy minutes while Bridgeport could be reached in only fifty minutes.

A 1937 newspaper included "Helpful Suggestions" by members of the West Main Street PTA:

"Truth is always a tower of strength to the one who adheres to it, but a lie is a weak spot in anyone's case."
