Free Ice Fishing Seminar and Field Trip

 The Town of Oxford and the State of CT DEEP is sponsoring a free Ice Fishing Course along with a field trip to Burr Pond in Torrington. Bait and equipment will be provided by the CT DEEP.  Local resident and C.A.R.E. (Connecticut Aquatic Resources Education) Chief instructor Kevin Maher will give a class on everything you need to know about ice fishing, for total beginners to old salts! Come on down and join the fun!

Course Highlights
  • All aspects of the sport will be gone over, including: Lake & pond regulations, equipment to bring, ice safety, fish identification and local hotspots. 
  • You will be instructed on how to use jig rods, tip ups, what bait to purchase and what you need to get those holes in the ice

  • Date: January 22, 2015
  • Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
  • Location: Oxford Town Hall
  • Field trip to Burr Pond in Torrington Saturday, February 7th (Must have your own transportation)
  • All equipment, bait, ice shoes and a fresh fish fry provided by the state DEEP as part of the "No child left inside" program. 

This program is free for anyone interested. You do not need to be a resident of Oxford to participate.
