Julie Nash Selected as Board Member for the Connecticut Economic Development Association

Julie Nash, Director of Economic and Community Development for the City of Milford, was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS).

CEDAS is the “premiere association for economic development professionals, providing a forum for the economic development community and sponsoring educational programs and seminars to benefit those in the field.”  The association, established in 1962, preceded economic development as a widespread municipal profession and has grown to meet the changing needs of professionals in the field.

“We are pleased to welcome Julie to our Board with her tremendous experience in government relations.  We are constantly striving to make Connecticut an attractive location to run a business and raise a family and Julie will be a great asset in this endeavor,” said Patrick McMahon, CEDAS President.

The membership of CEDAS ranges from government officials, engineers, attorneys, developers to non-profits and chambers of commerce.  The organization offers professional development programs and seminars, technical assistance program implementation, and scholarships for training programs.  Through partnerships with organizations like the Connecticut Economic Resource Center and Connecticut Main Street Center, CEDAS continues to support economic development throughout the state.

“I am thrilled to have been elected to this distinguished group of economic development professionals.  I look forward to sharing Milford’s experiences and learning from the rest of the Board as we work together to advance economic development across the state,” said Nash.

Nash joins an esteemed group of economic development professionals from around Connecticut as she steps into her new role.  She was elected through a competitive process by the existing Board.  Nash will serve on the Programs Committee which organizes webinars and quarterly networking opportunities.

“Julie will be a tremendous asset to the CEDAS board, and I am pleased that she will be promoting the City of Milford on a state and national stage,” said Mayor Benjamin Blake.
