Milford Health Dept./Milford Public Schools Encourage Measles Immunization

As you may be aware, the United States is experiencing a large multi-state measles outbreak that started at an amusement park in California in December. The outbreak has spread to many states, including neighboring New York. During the month of January 2015, 102 people from 14 states were reported to have measles. Most of these cases are part of the multi-state outbreak which began in California. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), the majority of people who got measles were unvaccinated.

Please read the letter jointly released by the Milford Health Dept. and the Milford Public Schools for details regarding the availability of the measles vaccine locally. If your child has not been adequately immunized, we encourage you to contact your child's primary care provider to obtain the vaccine.

In addition, the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine will be available at the Milford Health Department's monthly immunization clinic on Tuesday, Feb. 10th, from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the Milford Health Dept.
