Public Can Submit Anonymous Crime Tips Via Web, Texting, or Mobile Device The Milford Police Department and the Milford Prevention Council are proud to announce a new Crime Tip reporting initiative for the City of Milford.
The Crime Tip program is called “TipSubmit” by Public Engines. Tip Submit is a service that allows citizens to anonymously submit crime-related tips through the Web, a text message, or from any Android or iPhone mobile device with the TipSubmit mobile app. The use of TipSubmit is part of the agency’s proactive efforts to prevent, reduce, and solve crime. Tipsters are reminded that this program is not to be used to report emergencies or in progress events and that 911 should be utilized in those situations.
Citizens are encouraged to use TipSubmit to report information about any non-urgent illegal activity, such as unsolved cases, vandalism, theft, drug activity, underage drinking or information about crimes that are being planned in the community or in schools. TipSubmit supports users’ ability to submit photographs using the TipSoft mobile app. Tipsters will be provided with the opportunity to have two-way anonymous communications with the police department if they wish to.
1. Tipsters can submit tips via SMS text messages. Text the word “CRIMES” (274637) with the keyword MILFORD.
2. Tipsters can submit tips through a mobile phone app. The app can be downloaded from the iTunes Store or Google Play. The department can be located by using the location setting on your phone or by manually selecting the police department. There are drop down menus for different types of crimes, suspect and vehicle information.
3. Tipsters can submit an online tip via the internet. There is a template they will follow similar to the one used by the mobile app.
Funding for this program was provided by the Milford Prevention Council through various grants which focus on underage drinking and substance abuse in our community.
