Woman Arrested by Milford Police for Series of Jewelry Burglaries

A multi-jurisdictional investigation involving Milford, Stratford, Orange, Shelton and Trumbull Police Departments was launched after a series of burglaries in Fairfield and New Haven Counties had taken place in November, 2015.

Investigation revealed that the burglary suspect had sold jewelry stolen from a residential burglary in Milford to Tanya Abdur-Raheem (B/F, 56) 115 Chasta Lane, Stratford, who was advertising that she purchased gold. Tanya Abdur-Raheem was purchasing the stolen jewelry without a required precious metal license and was then re-selling the jewelry to a pawn shop in Bridgeport.

Abdur-Raheem is charged with Precious Metal Violation and Larceny 5th. Abdur-Raheem posted $2,500 bond and was given a court date of March 1, 2016.

Investigators were able to recover several jewelry items from the pawn shop for the homeowner whose house was burglarized.
