Milford Police Arrest New Haven Man for Attempted Carjacking, Assault on Officer

On August 29, 2017, at approximately 5:00pm Milford Police Officer Preto observed a male leaning into a vehicle’s driver side window in the parking lot of Howard Johnson’s Motel, 1052 Boston Post Road. Officer Preto then heard a female yell for help coming from inside of the vehicle as she waved her arms back and forth.

The male, Eric Lewis (B/M, 35) 150 Greenwood Street, New Haven, was ordered to back away from the vehicle and place his hands behind his back. Lewis refused and began fighting with officer’s on-scene. Lewis needed to be tased, which showed little effect due to Lewis being on PCP.

Eventually, several officers were able to place Lewis under arrest. In speaking with the female after the incident, officers learned that she was waiting for a different person in the parking lot when Lewis approached her vehicle and attempted to open the door and pull her out. Lewis was later found to be in possession of Marijuana laced with PCP.

Lewis is charged with the following: Breach of Peace 2nd

Assault on Police Officer

Interfering/ Resisting Arrest

Possession of Marijuana Possession of Hallucinogen

Criminal Attempt/ Carjacking

Lewis is being held on $10,000 bond to appear in Milford Court on August 30, 2017.
