Spring Youth & Adult Program Offerings

Recreation Spring Soccer is open to grades K-4 and has maintained a long-standing tradition in New Canaan for children as we enter the spring 2015. We base our program on parental involvement as coaches and teachers following modern soccer developmental guidelines. Participants will enjoy the fun of this less-competitive program with games scheduled for Saturday afternoons at Waveny Park. Kindergarten teams will play/practice only on Saturdays. Grades one through four will have one weekday practice with their volunteer parent coach and the additional Saturday game. This popular program will begin on April 25th. You can't beat the price of $30 and register today for another fun season of soccer.

SPECIAL START SMART SOCCER, BASEBALL AND GOLF PROGRAMS FOR PRE-K CHILDREN- parents are required to be present for all of the classes and work with their child. This is the place to start your introduction to sports. The programs are adopted from the model program established by the National Alliance For Youth Sports. No wet soggy grass fields or cold spring temperatures, these Saturday morning programs are held indoors in school gymnasiums in an ideal environment for learning. We will present the program for parents and children to participate and learn together. Our instructors will lead you through a rotating schedule of introductory skill exercises. Parent involvement is mandatory so everyone can "start smart" and parents can follow these guidelines while playing with your child at home.

Each class includes one-half hour riding and one-half hour horsemanship learning general horse care. Spaces are limited at both sites.

TEE BALL BASEBALL- Two separate co-ed programs will be offered for kindergarten and first grade children. This is the program that all great New Canaan baseball players started out playing on Saturday mornings at Waveny. We use a special tee station that suspends a special baseball from above the child allowing full swing range. Parents will coordinate a 45 minute practice session teaching throwing, catching, fielding and hitting. The teams will then combine for the final half-hour for a three inning special rules game each week. Register early, the program starts April 25th.
