New Canaan Launches a Flower Market this Sunday

The weather forecast is 70 and cloud so perfect conditions for New Canaan, Connecticuts inaugural ‘Flower Market’ celebration on Sunday May 22nd between 11am – 2pm.

The Pop Up Park, located in central New Canaan will be transformed into a fragrant, floral oasis for gardening enthusiasts to visit. Explore some of the finest local landscape architects, organizations, florists and artisanal purveyors. The glorious market will be filled with fresh flowers, plants, herbs, bulbs, seeds, gardening books, equipment and accessories. Local singer, songwriter Nick Depuy will gently serenade visitors with an acoustic set.

Local businesses will be encouraged to create a centerpiece or window display based on the theme ‘FLOWER POWER’. The event is the brainchild of Diane Roth, Owner L’Armoire boutique and is being supported by the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. It has been organized as a fundraiser, to benefit the New Canaan Beautification League (formerly the Garden Center of New Canaan). The community service and educational organization was originally founded in 1939, for the purpose of the beautification of the community and to provide members of the group with an opportunity to increase their knowledge of gardening and horticulture.

Diane Roth, Owner L’Armoire says: Since New Canaan is one of the few walking downtowns in the state, it is uniquely positioned to host a flower show in the spirit of Philadelphia and Chelsea. This is a way for the community to honor the garden club volunteers - who have helped make it more beautiful - and attract people from the surrounding towns for a day of flowers and fun. We are exited to be pairing this celebration up with Caffeine and Carburetors (a classic car show) at Waveny Park between 8–11am and Dog Days at Pet Pantry between 1-4pm. Another two great excuses to visit New Canaan."

Confirmed participants include: Arbonne, Barbara Wilson Landscape Architect LLC, Copia Home and Garden, Elise Landscape and Nursery’s, Earth Garden, Green of Greenwich, Pound Ridge Nurseries, Pryority Wellness, Stonehedge Landscaping Inc, Visnapuu Design, and White Fern Garden Design. Providing chilled soups with edible flowers will be Baldanza Organic Café and Mrs Green’s Market Natural Market. The event is sponsored by Serendipity Magazine.
