Young, brilliant, audacious individuals from around the world constantly flock to Silicon Valley with the idea of creating a startup, getting in on the ground floor, or striking it rich with outlandish, cutting edge concepts. But where do they go from there? Join New Canaan Library on Thursday, February 9th in welcoming respected journalist and author Alexandra Wolfe for a discussion of her recently released account, Valley of the Gods: A Silicon Valley Story. The event will take place 6:30pm in the Adrian Lamb Room, preceded by a light reception. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org. Copies of Valley of the Gods will be available for purchase, courtesy of Elm Street Books.
Alexandra Wolfe offers an insightful view of the culture of Silicon Valley, a microcosm of brilliant college dropouts, and ambitious young entrepreneurs eager to hatch their ideas and become rich in the process. In Valley of the Gods Wolfe follows three of these young people who have "stopped out" of college and mainstream employment to pursue the paths of their role models such as Mark Zuckerberg, Peter Thiel and Elon Musk. Wolfe explores the broad themes as well as the specific hallmarks of this exclusive valley and culture, where the concentration of youth, brilliance and risk-taking is staggering.
