International Photographer Daryl Hawks presents Photo Documentary and Lecture at New Canaan Library on October 18

Explore the vibrant colors, architecture and history of Cuba when international documentary photographer Daryl Hawk presents his latest photo documentary and lecture entitled “Into the Heart of Cuba”. Daryl will speak on October 18 (please note the new date!) at 6:30 p.m. in the Library's Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

In April of 2016, Daryl embarked on a 2700 mile circumnavigation of the country of Cuba to shoot a documentary.  His project turned into a nonstop series of adventures, experiences, discoveries, and valuable lessons learned. Starting in the capital of Havana, where the day to day street life and architecture was his main focus, Daryl made his way to the rural Vinales region which is world renowned for tobacco plantations. From there he continued to head east through the cities of Cinfuegos, Trinidad, Santa Clara, Camaguay and Santiago de Cuba, as included stops in smaller villages along the way.

Daryl's presentation will cover his style, philosophy, and various techniques used when photographing subject matter, as well as travel tips on planning a trip to Cuba.
