Influenced by the great European and American traditional and ‘Tonalist’ painting masters, artist John MacDonald realistically captures the spectrum of color, light, and atmosphere found in the natural landscapes of rural New England. His paintings gracefully depict nature’s fleeting moments – twilight, dusk, snowfall – wrought from keen observation, technical mastery and cognitive reflection. MacDonald received a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MA in Painting and Drawing from Purdue University, Indiana. MacDonald draws lifelong inspiration from the traditional techniques used in Japanese woodcuts through his printmaking studies at the Institute for American Universities in Avignon, France. He resides in beautiful Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Connecticut painter Antonia Tyz-Peeples enjoys the intense study of rippled water reflections and rolling surf as subject matter for her detailed ocean depictions. Influenced by reality-bending artists Salvador Dali and Georgia O’Keefe, Tyz-Peeples transforms an everyday beach scene into a dazzling liquid daydream. Harbor areas in Rhode Island and Connecticut are her favorite sources of local inspiration – mid-day light allows for bold colors and stark shadows; sunset provides warmth and sparkle. She received a BFA from Eastern Connecticut State University. Airbrush techniques learned at Silvermine Guild Arts Center continue to inform her smooth, hyper-realistic style.
