New Canaan Library Welcomes Financier and Author Bill Browder on November 30

New Canaan Library is pleased to welcome international financier and author Bill Browder, presenting his riveting true account, Red Notice. The event will be held on Thursday, November 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of New Canaan High School; doors will open at 6 p.m. Information on the registration process can be found online at https://newcanaanlibrary.org/calendar/. Due to the high profile nature of this event, a photo ID and printed confirmation ticket are required for entry.  Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Elm Street Books.

With undertones of financial caper, crime thriller, and a political crusade, Red Notice is the story of an accidental activist. It is the story of one man taking on overpowering odds to change the world. Bill Browder started out his adult life as a Wall Street maverick whose instincts led him to Russia just after the break of the Soviet Union. He made his fortune, but along the way he exposed corruption, and when he did, he barely escaped with his life. However, his Russian lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, wasn’t so lucky: he ended up in jail, where he was tortured to death. That changed Browder forever. He saw the murderous heart of the Putin regime and has spent the last half-decade on a campaign to expose it, making him Putin’s number one enemy.

Bill Browder, founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, was the largest foreign investor in Russia until 2005. Since 2009, Browder has been leading a campaign to expose Russia’s endemic corruption and human rights abuses. Before founding Hermitage, Browder was vice president at Salomon Brothers. He holds a BA in economics from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Stanford Business School.
