Bellissimo Barbazzano

Yesterday, local resident Arthur Zinn appeared at the New Canaan Library, where he presented a fascinating lecture on the restoration of his 11th Century Tuscan property Barbazzano. In just one hour we were taken on a journey, learning how the dilapidated buildings had taken shape. We heard about the multiple challenges, learned about Italian culture, and importantly were privy to the dramatic before and after pictures. The event was packed out, and at the end of the presentation there were many questions. One lady asked: "Would you consider restoring another building?" to which Arthur replied: "I don't think so. I was only 37 when we started Barbazzano and 6-years is a long time."  There was also interest over whether the family still owned the property.

In short, yes the Zinns still own Barbazzano, which is now a beautiful, luxury villa. When the family are not visiting, it is rented out for vacations and weddings.

Located only 2-hours from Florence, the property sits high upon the scenic hills between the Chiana and Arno valleys. Surrounded by 6-acres, the stunning property has nine bedrooms - accommodating up to twenty people, seven bathrooms and five separate living rooms. The villa boasts an 8 x 16 meter swimming pool with waterfall; children's wading pool; pool house with shower; wood-burning beehive pizza oven and outdoor patios for al fresco dining.

When the audience saw images of how Barbazzano looks today, there were sharp intakes of breath all round. And quite rightly so. The Zinns have not only injected life back into the property but have captured its rustic charm and history.
