Avalon Communities Create WAG Pet Program

Avalon Communities have created a WAG (Welcome. Appreciate. Give) Pet Program to highlight the cleanliness & value for money pet owners and their pets receive. The strategy & customer insights brand manager worked with residents directly, speaking with pet owners and non-pet owners to understand what makes great pet living.

All residents stressed about the importance of clean paws and overall cleanliness for community grounds. Pet owners asked Avalon to provide more value and ways to give back to charitable causes for pets!

Welcome - Avalon warmly welcome cats and dogs within their community. Four-legged family members greeting includes water, treats and clean spaces to play – all things pets will love.

Appreciate - Avalon will host pet and resident social events, such as: Doggie Paddle Pool Party, Yappy Hours, Howl-O-Week Party & Costume Contest, Pet CPR Class, and National Dog and Cat Days.

Give - Avalon will show kindness and compassion for all animals and give back through charitable efforts by working with The Humane Society of the United States.

Avalon, New Canaan provide three dog areas, with doggy poo bags for residents and the grounds are regularly maintained. I asked Corey Lane Caldwell, Customer Service Supervisor what was going to be done about non resident dog owners, who are allowing their dogs to use the grounds along Lakeside as a bathroom. Corey says: "I have been in contact with the Manager of Millport Apartments asking them to remind all of their residents to pick up after their dogs. We are also looking at getting signs put on our grounds. Our WAG Progam will enable us to contact 'Pet parents' and ask them to sign a 'Clean Paws Pledge' on behalf of their pet, acknowledging their responsibility in keeping the places they live, work and play, clean and welcoming for everyone."

Most Avalon Communities allow cats and dogs and accept a maximum of two pets per home. Check with the community directly.
