Coveted Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize Awarded to Grace Farms

Grace Farms Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2014-2015 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP) was awarded to Grace Farms, designed by the Pritzker-winning architecture firm SANAA. The award – a biennial prize that acknowledges the best built works of architecture in the Americas, created by Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) College of Architecture Dean Wiel Arets – was presented at the 2016 MCHAP Symposium and Award Dinner at S. R. Crown Hall in Chicago, the home of IIT Architecture.

Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, founders of SANAA, were recognized with the MCHAP Award, named the MCHAP Chair at IIT Architecture Chicago for the upcoming academic year, and granted $50,000 in funding toward research and publication.

On receiving the award, Sharon Prince, President of Grace Farms Foundation stated, “It is an honor that the distinguished MCHAP jury recognized Grace Farms' new kind of public space created by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, our architectural partners of SANAA. Starting with this stunning natural setting, we wanted to create a space that would communicate a sense of grace and peace for all – a place that would break down barriers between people and create new and unexpected outcomes. We are grateful for SANAA and our entire project team's visionary work.”
