New Year New Beginnings

It's that time of year where the majority of people contemplate what's happened during 2016 and start to formalize a plan for the new year ahead. Right now my mind is buzzing with planning vacations, special events that will be taking place during 2017 and WORK. Yes - no escaping that one, sadly.

Regarding resolutions, I seriously try to keep things realistic and not to over-commit. I won't be hitting the gym with gusto alongside a zillion others because I kept up my routine (that's one off the list). Does that mean I haven't overindulged during the holidays? Absolutely not. Do I need to shake off the late nights, late mornings and feasting on sugary rubbish? Guilty as charged. Did I manage to learn Spanish, like I resolved to last year? No, I didn't even have one lesson - the year flew by. Does that mean I have failed? No. I will try again this year. Is my ratio of work to life balance equal - no. I have promised my family that next year I will stop working on Sundays. Do I feel certain people have taken advantage of me? Yes, but I can only ever give 100% and so it will balance out.

All you can do is try and when you reach a certain age - NOT CARE so much about what people think. I always try to enjoy myself, be kind and make every day count. 2016 has been a very odd year, so focus on the positives and look forward.

HamletHub wellbeing contributor Dr. Leonaura Rhodes says: "Investing time and attention on your health, both physical and mental, is one of the best investments you will ever make, in fact I would go so far as to say it is THE BEST. Many people wait until the New Year to set goals for the year ahead, but the really productive, proactive people begin to set their goals before the year ends. Regrets may seem like an odd place to start with reviewing your year, but they often hold the secret to the goals you should be setting for the year ahead."
