
On Wednesday 26th members of (SPEDnet) were treated to an education talk from Brian Smith, Program Manager of the State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS). The third largest department in the State of Connecticut - DDS has a mission to "partner with individuals, support lifelong planning and to join with others to create and promote meaningful opportunities for individuals to fully participate as valued members of their communities".
Speaking at Waveny House to a group of thirty people, consisting of parents of special needs people and professionals in the field, Brian explained some of the services available and how to access them. It was an engaging and interactive presentation that left attendees with a greater understanding of services available.
