The Symposium will take place from 8am-12pm at UCONN Stamford and is free to attend.

Ed “Skip” McLaughlin will kick the event off with a keynote address. Ed is the founder of four businesses and is currently running Blue Sunsets LLC, a real estate and angel investment firm. He bootstrapped his first business, United Systems Integrators (USI) Corporation, and grew it into an Inc. 500 company before selling it to Johnson Controls. Ed's book, "The Purpose is Profit" received the 2017 Axiom Book Award for Entrepreneurship.

Caroline Simmons, State Representative 144th District, will update attendees on the state of small business in Connecticut and share what the State is doing to help small businesses grow and flourish.

Nine breakout sessions on marketing and digital media are being offered for attendees to choose from. Between breakout sessions attendees will visit small business exhibitors in Success Row and participate in a variety of activities, including Passport to Success and Networking Bingo. “Networking is the golden key to be successful as an entrepreneur to build and nurture healthy business relationships.” Cheryl said.

The Symposium was organized by Shannon Malkin Daniels, author and founder of SPEAC: Public Speaking, Communication and Mindset Coaching, and Cheryl Henchar, founder of Cheryl’s Creative Services. Shannon and Cheryl created this event to give small business owners an opportunity to promote their businesses, build relationships with potential referral partners and customers, and learn valuable information they can use to grow their business – all while giving back to charity. “Giving back is very important to me. I want to hold this event as a way to help the small business community and support a cause that’s near and dear to me.” Shannon said.

The 2017 Stamford Small Business Symposium is presented by Shannon and Cheryl in partnership with Constant Contact, 95.9 The Fox and CT PTAP.
