To the Editor:
For the past six years, the New Canaan Artisans has provided funding for program participants like myself, to Laurel House, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Stamford, CT that helps individuals, and families, affected by mental health.
Laurel House has been able to purchase items needed in order for program participants to get a job, go back to school or maintain safe, affordable housing, from funding granted by the New Canaan Artisans. These items have included;
- bus or train passes;
- work uniforms;
- bedding;
- clothing or shoes;
- school books/supplies.
Every year, Laurel House employees and supporters attend the New Canaan Artisans Holiday Boutique and return with unique handcrafted items for us. These beautiful items brighten my day, not just because they are fascinating to me, but also because I know that Laurel House employees and supporters are supporting the New Canaan Artisans who help me. Is there any better gift? Ever? Now or at the Holidays?
I encourage you to go check out all the wonderful items at the Holiday Boutique but I also encourage you to support an organization that supports those in your community, most in need, like me.
