New Canaan Land Trust in Video Competition For $10,000 Prize!

Short video produced by NCHS graduate is finalist in annual competition… please vote online by November 17th to help NCLT win

A video produced by New Canaan High School alumni Conner deMayo has been designated as a finalist the Land Trust Alliance’s annual video competition.  The video features footage from the New Canaan Land Trust’s new Silvermine-Fowler Preserve and a narration by Jim Fowler, well-known as the former host of the Emmy award-winning show, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.  In the video, Fowler evocatively conveys the importance of the property that he has called home, his children grew up on, and his grandchildren love to visit.

The Land Trust Alliance, a national conservation organization representing over 1,700 land trusts across the United States, created the annual video contest to challenge participants to showcase their connection to the land in a short video (less than 2 minutes). DeMayo’s video was selected as one of the top ten finalists; online voting, now underway, determines the winning videos. The top three winning producers will individually win $500, $1,000 or $2,000 – plus the chance to designate the land trust of their choice to receive $10,000.  Voting take place on the Land Trust Alliance website through November 17, 2017.
