New Canaan's Cece Challe Wins Gold in Connecticut Boat Club Fall Classic Regatta in San Diego, CA

Connecticut Boat Club (CBC), the only east coast team racing, won GOLD at the San Diego Fall Classic Regatta which was held on Mission Bay in San Diego, CA. This fall head race regatta was hosted by the historical San Diego Rowing club (est. 1891).

Coach Liz Trond says, “This was a great opportunity to race teams from California, Washington, Oregon and Arizona who we don’t typically see until Nationals in June. Winning the coxed 4 race, competing against a very fast boat from San Diego (2nd at Head of the Charles), was the perfect way to cap off our fall racing season and transition into our indoor season.”

The following CBC athletes competed in the Women’s Junior 1^st Varsity 4+ and won GOLD: Cece Challe (coxswain), Catherine Garrett, Olivia Luther, Kat Kern and Julia Abbruzzese

The following CBC athletes competed in the Women’s Junior 8+ and won SILVER: Cece Challe (coxswain), Julia Abbruzzese, Ella Petreski, Catherine Garrett, Olivia Luther, Casey Batson, Ellie Urdang, Kat Kern, and Jenna Macrae

Additionally, the following girls took fifth place in the Women’s Junior Varsity 4+: Bella Fox (coxswain), Paige Purcel, Clara Geffs, Lucy Collins and Bridget Galloway

Connecticut Boat Club is a high-performance girl’s youth (middle school and high school) rowing club and Women’s Masters program based on the Norwalk River in Norwalk, Connecticut.  Founded in the spring of 2010 by U.S. National Team Junior/CBC head coach Liz Trond, the team includes girls from throughout southwestern Connecticut and Westchester County New York.  CBC has proven to be a dominant force in scholastic rowing, most notably bringing home medals at Junior Worlds from 2010-2017.  The team dominates their competition at races including the Head of the Charles, the San Diego Crew Classic, the Saratoga Invitational, the Head of the Schuylkill, and the Head of the Housatonic to name a few.  For more information, please visit the website and Facebook page.
