We decided to hold a last minute meeting between the New Canaan Editor (Moi) and contributors, so chose to have lunch at Locali, Forest Street. The restaurant, which serves great Italian food, especially pizza - has an impressive interior, but needs to utilize the space more, in order to accommodate more diners!
Lunchtime was not completely busy and service at first was slow but soon picked up - our waiter was the fabulous Cesar, what a guy!
The Central Pizza Oven says it all - adorned with the name Giouanni, a tribute to the owners Father. We all LOVED the pizza! Thin crust, crunchy, burnt at the edges (in a good way) and cooked to perfection. Fabulous toppings - we chose 'The Speciale' with smoked mozzarella, brussel sprouts and bacon - YUM!
Pizza, salad, wine, service - all perfect. I can't wait until the warmer weather, where we can all sit outside 'al fresco!'
