JCC in Sherman announces After School Arts and Science Program

The Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Sherman announces their 2015 Arts and Science After school program for students in second through eighth grade.  This program is designed to encourage creativity, exploration and encourage inquisitive minds.  In collaboration with other local nonprofits and community leaders, the JCC has created a program that truly resembles Sherman and surrounding communities.  There is a class for everyone and they are available Tuesday through Thursday starting February 17th.  Classes include Hip/Hop on Tuesdays, a creative writing class with Sherman’s own Don Lowe who will work with Sherman Playhouse’s Artisitic Director Robin Frome as he helps the students bring their words to life through acting every Wednesday for 8 weeks.  Naromi Land Trust will introduce Sherman’s vegetation, waterways and animal life and make them come to life.  Students will then have an opportunity to explore the land they studied during two field studies in the spring.  On Thursdays, students will work with St. Edwards Teen Chorus Director, Robert Brereton while he teaches them music theory, singing as a group and the importance music has on math and science.
