Art from the Inside: Exhibit at The Danbury Museum

The Danbury Museum & Historical Society presents their annual Collections, Community & Conversation exhibit in Huntington Hall located at 43 Main Street, Danbury, CT.

Art from the Inside projects on display are inspired, created and brought to life using items most of us throw away. Medium represented include paintings, pencil drawings, wire and soap sculptures.

Art from the Inside will be on display through March 18, 2017 and open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

“We’re pleased to partner with the FCI to bring these pieces to the attention of the public. It is wonderful to see the ingenuity and creativity that the inmates possess. We support the efforts of the FCI to foster a creative outlet and means of expression for those currently incarcerated,” said Brigid Guertin, Executive Director of The Danbury Museum & Historical Society.

To that end, the museum will collect donated items that the FCI is seeking in order to expand the art program and community service projects that are currently in place. Inmates are now working on making stuffed animals, paper quilling projects and crocheted items for less fortunate children and cancer patients. Donations of the following supplies make these efforts possible: yarn, oil paint, string, Elmer’s glue, crochet hooks and needlepoint thread. A complete list is available on the museum website. No monetary contributions will be accepted.
