Extreme Caution is Urged by the CT DEEP on Candlewood Lake After Snowmobile/ ATV Accidents

On January 31st, three people on snowmobiles were heading north in the area of Vaughn's Neck when a snowmobile driven by Timothy Langer, 38, of Danbury, hit an ice mound and went airborne. Each snowmobile involved had a single occupant. Langer was taken to Danbury Hospital via ambulance with injuries.

Yesterday, one snowmobile and one ATV fell through the ice at Candlewood Lake. There were no injuries.

"There is continued need for caution on ice as warmer temperatures are expected to continue," DEEP Spokeswoman Cyndy Chanaca said. "EnCon Police urge extreme caution while on the ice. With temperatures rising this weekend many areas are unsafe for recreational activities."
