New Fairfield Vandalism Spree Garners Media Attention

Recent vandalism in New Fairfield is getting attention this past week in media outlets around Connecticut. Mainly contained to Rita Drive, many residents attribute the spray painted graffiti to teenagers in the area. Still, the police have been notified and will be on the lookout for anyone suspicious.

Local WFSB news coverage (click here) describes the vandalism as "scary" for local residents, though this is not the first time the town has seen an uptick in graffiti around the area. Back in 2007, 15 school buses were tagged with black spraypaint parked at Meeting House Hill School leading to the arrest of two New Fairfield teenagers and though teenagers are likely responsible for the recent vandalism, graffiti and damage to personal property falls under Connecticut's criminal mischief laws and can result in jail time and severe fines.

Anyone who has information regarding the recent vandalism is urged to contact New Fairfield police at (203) 312-5701.
