Clear Your Calendar for Next Weekend's New Fairfield Day

Don't miss next week's town celebration, New Fairfield Day!

On Saturday, September 20th, the day will kick off at 9:30 AM with the Lion's Club parade (following the 4th of July route down Route 37) followed by a ceremony to honor our local heroes, TJ Lobraico and Chris Blackwell. New Fairfield Day organizer and First Selectwoman Susan Chapman says this year's festivities will be an upgrade from last year. Ms. Chapman states, "We really want to promote the concept of the town's walkability and we'll have various areas set up around the town center for everyone to enjoy." From 11:00 - 3:00 PM, live music will be playing all afternoon at Memorial Field, including the New Fairfield's own Split Decision and The Bandolins.

The trails of the 26-acre Komlo Preserve at Dunham Pond will be open to the public, as well as New Fairfield's first local history museum exhibit "Made in New Fairfield" at the Hubbell House. The Veteran's will be showing military equipment on Veteran's Green, and the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual Fire Prevention Day and the Consolidated School's scarecrows will be on display throughout the town. Inside the Senior Center will be the senior Art and Quilt display and the Amber Alert program in the community room.

In the Stop and Shop parking lot, local clubs and organizations will have information tables set up including the Community Service Club, Post Grad, Rebels Care, Friends of the New Fairfield Library, the New Fairfield Thrift Shop, New Fairfield Lion’s Club, New Fairfield Land Trust, New Fairfield Historical Society, New Fairfield/ Sherman Animal Welfare, New Fairfield Community Garden, Democratic Commission, the Republican Commisson, New Fairfield Prevention Council, Acupuncture Works, New Fairfield Girl Scouts, Your At Home Vet, People’s United Bank, New Fairfield Boy Scouts, New Fairfield Regional Hospice, Candlewood Lion’s, Candlewood Lake Authority, St. Edward’s Knights of Columbus, New Fairfield Veteran’s Association, and New Fairfield Baseball.

Be sure to come down starting with the parade at 9:30 AM to cheer on your neighbors. The celebration ends at 3:00 PM. For more information, please call the Selectman's office at (203) 312-5600.
