In Memory of John Kawulicz

 

 

John Kawulicz, 85 of New Fairfield, beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (Vander Drift) Kawulicz, passed away on Wednesday, September 24th at St. John Paul Center II, in Danbury, after suffering from Parkinson's disease for many years. He was born in Poland on December 2, 1928, son of the late Mikloy and Eva (Makovitch) Kawulicz. 

In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by his two children, John J Kawulicz of Danbury and Maureen Lerner of Patterson, NY; his two grandchildren, Daniel and Melanie Lerner; his two brothers, Michael and Steve Kawulicz. He is also survived by his nephews Michael of New Fairfield, and Godson Robert of New Fairfield, Peter (Dawn) of Bethel and Paul (Toby) of Brookfield; and his niece Nina of Fairfield. He was predeceased by his son, James Kawulicz. 

John was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Sergeant First Class in the US Army. He was one of the original proprietors of the New Fairfield Food Center and Putnam Lake Market. John was deeply loved and was known in the community as a loving husband, dad, grandpa and good friend to many. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him. 


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor in New Fairfield, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27th. Calling hours will be at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, September 26th between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
