Invitation to Bid for Library Renovations and Additions

Sealed bids are requested on a General Contract for renovations and alterations to the New Fairfield Free Public Library, New Fairfield, Connecticut. The work consists of an addition to the wood and steel-framed 10,800 square foot building with a new elevator and bathrooms, and interior alterations to interior spaces with attendant mechanical, electrical and site work as called for in Bidding Documents prepared by the Architect. Bids shall include one sum for the total Work.

The date of Substantial Completion is 150 calendar days following Notice To Proceed. The date of Final Completion, including punch list items, is 30 calendar days following substantial completion.

Prepare proposal on the Bid Forms provided. Submit 3 signed and sealed copies of the Bid. Bids are due by 3:00 PM local time, February 26, 2015, at the First Selectman’s office, Susan Chapman, Town Hall, New Fairfield, Connecticut, at which time they will be opened publicly and read aloud. Bids delivered after that time will not be accepted. Bids may not be withdrawn without the written consent of the Owner.

A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held at the project site, at 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 5, 2015. Bidders are required to attend. The Owner reserves the right to accept any bid or to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding.

A Bid Security of 5 percent of the Bid shall be included with the Bid. It may be either a certified check or a Bid Bond made payable to the Town of New Fairfield. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish Performance and Payment Bonds, each for 100 percent of the Contract Value.

Any Contractor submitting a bid must be a General Contractors that is pre-qualified by the State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS). All Subcontractors, whose work exceeds $500,000.00, shall also be pre-qualified by the State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS). General Contractor must be a DAS approved contractor for the classification as General Building Construction Group B.

Attention of bidders is directed to certain requirements of this contract which require the payment of prevailing wage rates.
