Local Author has Robot Assisted Prostatectomy at Danbury Hospital

It's no surprise that when it comes to health (even his own) he turns to technology for answers and solutions. In his latest blog post, he talks about his cancer diagnosis and treatment (via a robot) at Danbury Hospital.


 

One year ago this week, I had a robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, followed by 39 days of intensity-modulated radiation treatment. The combination of the two has almost certainly cured me of prostate cancer.

I wrote a chapter in Health Attitude about my personal experience and about 3-D printing and robots in healthcare. They will play an increasingly larger role. I had the opportunity to operate a surgical robot about five years ago. I was able to manipulate some small pieces of plastic.  How precise is suturing with a surgical robot?
