Arctic Cold & Wintry Mix Headed Our Way

According to the National Weather Service, arctic cold temperatures are expected Thursday, December 15 and Friday, December 16. In addition, a wintry mix is expected Friday night into Saturday.

The coldest temperatures and lowest wind chills of the 2016-17 winter season are expected Thursday through Friday.

  • Thursday:  Highs in the 20s. Wind chills of 0 to 10 above.
  • Thursday Night into Friday Morning: Lows 5 to 15 above zero. Lowest wind chills 0 to near 10 below zero.
  • Friday: Highs 20 to 25. Wind chills moderating.

Wintry Mix Potential for Friday Night into Saturday

Low pressure moves northeast across the Great Lakes on Saturday as arctic high pressure moves east off the coast.  This low may bring accumulating snow Friday night, mixing with sleet and freezing rain Saturday morning followed by rain area wide Saturday afternoon and night.
