Connecticut Audubon Society Hosts Morning Migration Walks in Sherman

The fall bird migration happens in waves, that’s why The Connecticut Audubon Society is offering a series of early morning bird walks at its new Deer Pond Farm sanctuary in Sherman, CT. On each walk you can expect to see different species of birds heading south for the winter. Early to mid-September is a great time to see warblers and songbirds. Raptors, hawks and buteos are the next to pass through.

The two- to three-mile walks begin at 8 a.m. on September 7, 12, 22 and 27. They will be led by Milan Bull, The Connecticut Audubon Society’s senior director of science and conservation, and Cathy Hagadorn, director of Deer Pond Farm. Bring binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure! All levels of birders welcome. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Walks are cancelled if it rains.

Morning Migration Walks are free for CAS members and $5/walk for nonmembers; reservations are required. To register online visit: www.ctaudubon.org/deer-pond-farm; or call: 860-799-4074, x105.
