Danbury to Bid Directly to Amazon

Danbury to send proposal to Amazon.com Inc despite DECD decision

Mayor Mark Boughton has decided to submit a response to Amazon’s Request for Proposal on behalf of the City of Danbury, despite the state of Connecticut’s final site selection.

“We feel the City of Danbury is the strongest location to service Amazon’s second North American headquarters. Danbury has the resources, as we boast a 100-acre site in direct proximity to rail, air, and vehicular modes of transportation. Further, renowned economists agree that Danbury has the most stable and business-friendly environment in the state of Connecticut. Lastly, and most importantly, our ability to draw from a diverse, educated and multi-talented labor pool puts Danbury at the forefront of this selection process,” said Mayor Boughton.

Should Amazon.com see the true potential of Danbury, and agree to build their second North American headquarters in our fine city, Danbury would gladly partner with the State of Connecticut and the Greater Danbury area to ensure the needs of this forward thinking corporation are met in full. In addition, the City of Danbury has a unique partnership with Putnam County, NY, which increases our access to talented workers and resources that transcends state boundaries.

In accordance with Amazon.com’s RFP, Danbury feels it can best benefit our community by submitting our own proposal.
