New Fairfield resident appointed Director of International Admissions at Post University

Post University has appointed Ruby Parker, Ph.D., as its Director of International Admissions. The New Fairfield resident
assumes her new position within the University's Main Campus Admissions team August 1st.

"We have so much to offer students from other countries, and we really value the global perspective they bring to Post," said Don Mroz, Ph.D., Post University President and Founding Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business. "Ruby has done an outstanding job developing our English Language Institute, and I am confident that she will bring both the passion and the expertise required to build our international admissions department here at Post."

Currently the Academic Program Manager for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and the English Language Institute (ELI) at Post University, Parker previously taught English, ESL, and Business Management in various colleges and universities in Connecticut, Nebraska, Missouri and California. She was nominated for the Joan Goostree Stevens Excellence in Teaching Award at Fontbonne University in 2004. Parker also served as Course Director for English and Speech at the Philippine Military Academy, and received the Dean's Commendation for services rendered as course director from 1989-1990.

Internationally, Parker served as trade assistant to the Commercial Counselor of the Philippine Embassy Trade Office in Cologne, Germany, and was responsible for marketing trade fair participation of Philippine business concerns in various international trade fairs in Germany.
She worked for the Far Eastern Economic Review in Hong Kong, researching a strategic marketing strategy for the Review and conducting interviews with various news magazines and corporate leaders in Hong Kong.

A member of Toastmasters International, the worldwide communication and leadership organization, Parker achieved Distinguished Toastmaster designation in 2011 and was selected Area Governor of the Year for 2010-2011. As coach of the Academic Decathlon team of New Fairfield High School, Ruby successfully coached a brand new team to a Connecticut 2nd place finish in 2009. The team now holds the distinction of consistently placing among the top three teams of the state every year, including a back-to-back Connecticut 1st place finish in 2013 and 2014. Parker is a member of Mensa, the largest and oldest high IQ society in the world.

"In an increasingly shrinking global village," Parker says, "the benefits of attracting a diverse group of international students are many. They
enrich our local student body with a wide spectrum of perspectives and experiences, helping our students become more culturally accepting and adaptive. They then gain intercultural skill sets that will help them assume positions of global leadership and excellence in their respective careers."
