Expanded Crutch Drive Kicks off May 18th!

Jeremy Perillo, a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 42 is again organizing a crutch drive to benefit Crutches 4 Kids. Over the past two years his crutch drives in New Fairfield have given the gift of mobility to over 200 children. This year his goal was to expand beyond New Fairfield and he is excited to be able to do that with the support of his fellow Cub/Boy Scouts. This year the crutch drive has expanded to the neighboring towns of Sherman (Pack 84), Brookfield (Troop 135), and Newtown (Troop 70/370). The crutch drive will run from May 18th to June 5th.

Crutches 4 Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing crutches to children in need around the world. By collecting gently used crutches through crutch drives they give the gift of mobility, independence and hope. To these children a pair of crutches can be everything. A pair of crutches can enable a child to rejoin their friends in the classroom and on the playground, participate more in family routines and ultimately better engage in their societies. These crutch drives bridge the gap between the abundant supply of crutches in the United States and the staggering demand around the world.

In addition to crutches, canes and walkers are also being accepted at the following drop off locations. New Fairfield Stop and Shop (25 Route 39), Brookfield Town Hall (100 Pocono Rd), Newtown Town Hall (3 Primrose Lane in Fairfield Hills) and C.H. Booth Library (25 Main Street). Sherman has already collected items during the Sherman Roadside Clean-up Day in April. If you are unable to bring your items to the drop off boxes please send an email to nfcrutchdrive@yahoo.com Thank you in advance for your support!
