Dig into the Minecraft Building Events at The Microsoft Store

When kids think of Minecraft they have video games on their brain. Little do they know that they are secretly learning and having fun while playing Minecraft. Minecraft is a video game yes, but it is also a creative learning tool that teaches problem solving skills, organization skills, social skills and secret math skills. It is all about strategically placing blocks and items into a world that turns into one big creation!! At least that's my definition.

Recently my son, Brendon Meadows moderated a Minecraft build at the Microsoft Store, Danbury Fair Mall. The kids that registered for the free event shared in a creative joint build of the Danbury Mall. They built stores at the mall like the Microsoft Store, Yogibo, Lego Store, Disney Store, Candy World, Build A Bear, and The Food Court with the Carousel. It was a joint effort and the kids had fun while learning together, sharing Minecraft tips, meeting new people and showing the adults the final product.

The Microsoft Store will continue to host events like this hosted by kids like you. If you have a child that is comfortable speaking to other kids and sharing their Minecraft skills with others then they might be the next moderator for a build at the store.  Please reach out to Stephanie Hathaway, Community Developement Specialist at the Microsoft Store via email at sthathaw@microsoft.com for more information. Also, you can learn more about all the special events and workshops for adults and kids on their website.  There are also free workshops for your cub scouts or girl scouts to earn badges.

Thank you to the Microsoft Store, Danbury Mall for allowing my son the opportunity to moderate a Minecraft Build at your store.
