HUDSON VALLEY SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES COMPLETE CASTING FOR SUMMER SEASON AT BOSCOBEL HOUSE AND GARDENS IN GARRISON, NY
SEASON BEGINS JUNE 8, 2017
The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (Davis McCallum, Artistic Director; Kate Liberman, Managing Director) is proud to announce complete casting for the 2017 summer season. The previously announced season will contain two world premiere productions, THE BOOK OF WILL (Rolling World Premiere) and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, along with TWELFTH NIGHT, THE GENERAL FROM AMERICA, and LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST, co-produced with The Acting Company.
THE BOOK OF WILL, written by Lauren Gunderson (I and You) and directed by Davis McCallum, will begin previews on June 9 and open on June 22, with performances scheduled through July 28. The cast will include Mary Bacon*, Michael Broadhurst, Stephen Paul Johnson*, Krystel Lucas*, Sean McNall*, Ruibo Qian*, Kurt Rhoads*, and David Ryan Smith*.
THE BOOK OF WILL features costume design by Martha Halley, lighting design by Eric Southern, sound design by Stowe Nelson, set design by Sandra Goldmark and prop design by Theresa Pierce. Marci Skolnick will serve as production stage manager.
Kate Hamill (Bedlam’s Sense and Sensibility) has adapted and will star in a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, co-produced with Primary Stages. Directed by Amanda Dehnert, previews begin on June 10 with opening night set for June 24. Performances will run through September 4, 2017.
The cast will also feature appearances from Mark Bedard*, Kimberly Chatterjee, Jason O’Connell*, Amelia Pedlow*, Chris Thorn*, John Tufts* and Nance Williamson*. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE will feature costume design by Tracy Christensen, lighting design by Eric Southern, sound design by Palmer Hefferan and sets by John McDermott. Roxana Khan will serve as production stage manager.
William Shakespeare’s TWELFTH NIGHT, directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand to God) will feature performances from Mary Bacon*, Michael Broadhurst, Stephen Paul Johnson*, Krystel Lucas*, Sean McNall*, Ruibo Qian*, Kurt Rhoads* and David Ryan Smith*. and Performances begin on June 8 with an official opening set for June 16, for a limited run through August 27. TWELFTH NIGHT will feature costume design by Tilly Grimes, lighting design by Matt Richards, original music and sound design by Palmer Hefferan, set design by John McDermott and prop design by Theresa Pierce. Marci Skolnick will serve as production stage manager.
Directed by Penny Metropulos, performances begin on August 4 and will run through September 3. Opening night is set for August 8. THE GENERAL FROM AMERICA will feature costume design by Charlotte Palmer-Lane, lighting design by Matthew Richards, and set design from Kristen Robinson. Roxana Khan will serve as production stage manager.
The season will conclude with William Shakespeare’s LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST, directed by Ian Belknap and co-produced with The Acting Company. The cast will feature the HVSF Conservatory Company, including Maryn Shaw, Serena Miller, Daniel Liu, Luis Quintero, Zach Fike Hodges, Sky Smith, Jade Radford, and Marielle Young. Performances will run from August 14 to August 29, with free family matinees held on August 15, August 22 and August 29. LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST will travel to several venues throughout the Hudson Valley region as part of HVSF’s On the Road series, and to New York City schools in the fall of 2017 with The Acting Company.
Season tickets for all productions will be available for purchase on March 15. Early access to tickets is available for members of HVSF’s Saints & Poets Society and Festival Circles Program.
