New Fairfield Fire Department Volunteer Unit Encourages Residents to Use Crosswalks

New Fairfield Fire Police, a volunteer unit with in the Fire Department, extended a warm thank you to the community for exercising caution both driving and walking during last week's Lions Club's Old Tyme Carnival.

"Many thanks to all who helped us out this week with slowing down and keeping an eye out for those who crossed the street at the crosswalk to attend the Carnival in town. It is much appreciated in more ways than one," they wrote on their Facebook Page.

While many obeyed traffice rules and crossed at the designated crosswalk, the Police and Fire pointed out the danger of those who did not use the crosswalk.  "It is unfortunate there were some who chose not to use the crosswalk and many crossed at the triangle at Ball Pond Road and Brush Hill Road. We apologize to the drivers who experienced people running out to cross the street," they said.

New Fairfield's finest encourage all to use the crosswalks in town!
