Volunteers Needed for City of Danbury Social Services Grant Process

The United Way of Western Connecticut is seeking volunteers to serve on Review Teams that allocate City of Danbury funding to social service agencies in our community. Reviewers will learn about how nonprofit agencies improve the quality of life for city residents by reviewing and evaluating grant applications and attending program presentations.

United Way of Western Connecticut oversees this process for the City of Danbury. Funds are allocated in three areas: Education, Income, and Health. Reviewers will allocate funding for a two-year period beginning July 2017. Last year, 28 agencies were funded through the City’s program.

To participate in this volunteer opportunity, you must:

  • Be a City of Danbury resident
  • Be available to attend morning meetings in April and May of 2017.
  • Be able to devote 15-20 hours to reviewing applications, participating in team meetings, and attending program presentations
  • Not have a conflict of interest with any of the agencies you are evaluating (conflict of interest includes serving on the Board of Directors, being a volunteer, or being a client of the agency)

If you are interested in volunteering for a funding review team, please contact Caroline LaFleur at United Way of Western Connecticut at (203) 297-6307 or caroline.lafleur@uwwesternct.org by March 31, 2017.
