There may be snow on the ground and in the forecast, but it’s not too early to start preparing for marathon season. Basil Yoga Center will offer a FREE "Yoga for Runners" class this Sunday, March 1 at 1 p.m., in association with the Ridgefield Running Company. All levels are welcome.
Studies have shown that the strength and flexibility developed on a yoga mat–namely in the core, quads, hamstrings, and hip flexors–can help athletes stay injury-free and run more efficiently. Additionally, holding poses builds tenacity that can potentially pay off on the road.
The class will be taught by Melissa Rodgers, a certified yoga teacher at Basil Yoga Center, located at 31 Bailey Avenue (behind Peterson Chiropractic). Pre-registration is required, www.basilyoga.com.
