Dave's Day Bull's Bridge Golf Classic

On Friday, September 30, 2016, New Milford Hospital will be hosting the Dave’s Day Bull’s Bridge Golf Classic at Bull’s Bridge Golf Club in Kent – rated a top ten golf course in the state and the only one designed by Tom Fazio.  The tournament is named in honor of Dave Flatau, a beloved member of this community who died prematurely due to a sudden cardiac issue.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death among adults over the age of 40 - one life every two minutes.  Ninety-five percent of those who experience SCA die because they do not receive life-saving defibrillation within four to six minutes.  This statistic is staggering, but studies have shown that through early intervention with CPR, the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), and advanced cardiac life support, four out of 10 SCA victims survive.

An AED is the only effective treatment for restoring a regular heart rhythm during SCA and does not require a medical background to operate.  Another critical tool used by EMS providers is the LUCAS Chest Compression System, which delivers uninterrupted automated chest compressions.  Unfortunately, not all of the New Milford area communities have a sufficient number of these life-saving resources available.  But, with your help we can change that.  Proceeds from the tournament will help save lives as we will fund AEDs and LUCAS Chest Compression Systems for New Milford area communities.
