Audubon Center's Sept. 20 BENTFEST 2014 To Feature Live Music

AUDUBON CENTER SOUTHBURY TO HOST BENTFEST 2014 SAT. SEPT. 20, RAIN OR SHINE

The Audubon Center at Bent of the River in Southbury will host their annual BENTFEST fundraiser on Saturday, September 20 from 2 to 6 p.m., rain or shine.

This annual family festival will feature a Birds of Prey demonstration at 3 p.m., a bird banding demonstration at 4 p.m., river and nature walks, an insect safari, a bird-watching boulevard, hay rides, tie-dye T-shirt creations, food vendors, kids’ activities, bird watching, raffle prizes, and picnicking in the meadow throughout the afternoon.

Coffee, teas and pastries will be available for purchase in the Audubon Center’s historic 1800s barn cafe all afternoon. Between 3:30 and 5:30, and the Willie & Jan Nininger Trio will perform an eclectic blend of oldies, rock n‘ roll, original music, country and folk music and popular songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Exhibitors during BENTFEST 2014 will include The Green Blessings Center offering chair massages, kids’ favorite crafts with Kara, the YWARF-Youth Wildlife & Recycling Foundation, the Bent’s “Bird Tales”, Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition, DEEP and the Southbury Land Trust.

Admission costs to BENTFEST 2014 fundraiser are $25/family, $12/adult (over 18), $8/child ages 6 to 18, free for children 6 and younger. No pets permitted.

The non-profit Audubon Center is located in the Southbury hamlet of South Britain, off Route 172 at 185 East Flat Hill Road, 0.3 miles from corner of General Store and South Britain Congregational Church.
