New Milford’s Historic Barton House to be restored and become the Centerpiece of a 38 unit residential development, Barton Commons
Coldwell Banker Commercial, Scalzo Group’s Hal Kurfels brokered the million dollars plus sale
New Milford, Ct. Built in 1861, the one hundred and fifty five year old Barton House was sold to Dakota Partners of Waltham, Mass. to be incorporated into a 38 unit residential development, Barton Commons. Hal Kurfehs, Vice President of Coldwell Banker Commerical, Scalzo Group, announced the land sale of 3.5 acres at 34 East Street in New Milford, on which the historic Barton House is located, to Dakota Partners Inc of Waltham Massachusetts. The seller was Gary Romaniello of 34 East Street LLC.
According to Kurfehs, two new apartment buildings to be calledBarton Commons will be built on the site while preserving the historical part of the existing home that will be incorporated into the design of one of the new apartment buildings. Barton Commons will include 34 one and two bedroom apartments, thirty of which will be designated affordable housing units. The original Barton House will be restored and converted into four residential units.
The existing two-story residence is more than 150 years old and eligible for historic designation by The National Park Service. All work to the house will be consistent with National Park service historic guidelines and will conform to the historic ambience of the neighborhoods.
Construction on will begin in early 2016 and completed by the end of the year.
