Merryall Center for the Arts Coffeehouse Series

After a successful initial evening, the Merryall Center for the Arts Coffeehouse Series will continue Saturday (May 28) with the Blue Martini Review.

This New Milford-based group was formed in 2014, composed of members of local bands The Blue Yodels, Western Round Up and Songhorse. It has been featured on Charter Communications’ “Studio 21” program.

The Blue Martini Review includes Missy Alexander and Felicia Michael on vocals, Nancy Janutolo on drums and Bill Petkanas and Bob Brophy on guitar and vocals.

What kind of music do they play? According to the group, “Who else plays Miley Cyrus, Roy Orbison, Johnny Rivers, Rosemary Clooney and They Might Be Giants? Nobody else – that’s who!”

The Coffeehouse Series, organized by board member Rob Brereton, including open mic evenings, will be on Saturdays when no regular Merryall performances are scheduled. “Our goal,” Brereton said, “is to provide alternative musical options and to ensure that something is going on at Merryall just about every Saturday until September.”

The performance will begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

The Merryall Center for the Arts has been providing entertainment, enrichment and enlightenment in the Litchfield Hills since 1951. It is at 8 Chapel Hill Road, New Milford. It receives support from the New Milford Commission on the Arts and the Connecticut Community Foundation.
