What do Newtown, the U.N. and Oprah have in Common?

Artists of all shapes and sizes and ages gathered on Thursday, August 8 to paint colorful, optimistic squares as part of the Art Miles Mural Project. Newtown's mural will be displayed at the United Nations on September 21st, International Peace Day.

Painters worked under the guidance of Joanne Tawfilis, who Oprah once chose to be one of 80 leaders who could change the world. The humble Connecticut native, who now resides in California, was perfectly comfortable in HealingNewtown's modest space at Congregational Church.

The concept of the internationally renowned mural project is to bring people of all ages and talent levels together to promote global peace and harmony through art.
