Carminuccios Pizza in Newtown has Won Top Honors Nationally - Again!!

Once again, Carminuccios Pizza in Newtown has won top honors nationally in a “best of the pie survey.”

In 2011, Carminuccios was chosen as one of the 10 best Pizzas in the United States by Gourmet Magazine and epicurious.com, quite an honor for the small family-owned  restaurant.

Carminuccios pizza was named one of the top three Neapolitan-style pies in the  Northeast.  No other Connecticut Pizza Parlor made the cut.

According to Parade Magazine, Americans consume three billion pies per year with pepperoni the most popular topping choice. With so many styles of pies to choose from, deep dish Chicago style pies, thin crust New York style or Neapolitan style crusts.  it’s no wonder pizza is one of the favorite choices - topped only by burgers - for families looking for a quick dinner in or out.

Controversy still reigns as to whether pizza originated in Italy or right here in the US.  What is a known fact is that an Italian baker in lower Manhattan started serving baked bread dough topped with crushed tomatoes somewhere around the  late 1890s and the modern pizza was born.

Whatever the controversy, Newtown knows that as their advertising states, Carminuccios is a “Little Slice of Heaven” right here in Newtown.
