The three day event will begin Wednesday June 7th, 2017 with various routes throughout CT. The Torch will pass through Newtown on June 9th starting at approximately 11:30am. Officers will run a 5mile route beginning at the Bethel town line on Rt. 302 and end at the Blue Colony Diner.

One way officers raise funds for the Special Olympics is through the “Adopt-a-Mile” program. With a donation, local businesses can adopt a portion of the run route and show their support of the Special Olympics. Over the next few weeks, members of the Newtown Police Department will be providing information packets to local business on how they can “Adopt-a-Mile”.

Any businesses that wish to participate in the “Adopt-a-Mile” fundraising event can contact Sgt. Wood, Ofc. Chapman or Ofc. Vegerano at the Newtown Police Department (203)426-5841.
