The Newtown Arts Festival returns for its sixth year with Sawyer Fredericks, the winner of the eighth season of NBC’s The Voice, headlining the opening event Friday, September 15.
Tickets for the concert, which will be held on the grounds of Fairfield Hills, are $35 for VIP tickets and $20 for lawn tickets. No tickets will be sold at the door. Access http://www.newtownartsfestival.com/ for tickets. Grounds open at 6 pm for the 6:30 concert.
Food, beer, wine and soft beverages will be available for purchase at the concert. Lawn chairs, coolers allowed however no alcoholic beverages allowed in. No pets allowed. (Service pets excepted.)
The Newtown Arts Festival weekend continues Saturday, September 16 from 10-6 pm and Sunday, September 17 from 10-5 pm on the grounds of Fairfield Hills. Admission is free under 5, $3 6-12 and $5 for 13 and older.
In addition to more than 60 artisans and innumerable food trucks, the festival presents performances and workshops in all forms of creative expression, including visual arts, dance, music, written word, and theater in the setting of a town-wide celebration.
Sawyer Fredericks lived in Newtown until he was 8, when his family moved to an 88 acre farm near Fultonville, New York where he was home schooled in the unschooling style.
Establishing himself as a true Americana singer with an old soul bridging the Folk Rock Chasm with style and substance, he wrote or co-wrote each piece on his major label debut, ”A Good Storm.”
The Newtown Arts Festival is sponsored by the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission. Proceeds support grants and scholarships for local artists and arts organizations, future festivals, and other work of the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission.
Celebrating National Arts and Humanities month the arts festival will continue through October with individual arts events throughout Newtown.
