National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Is 4/26

On Saturday, April 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and local partners will hold the 8th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Expired or unused prescription drugs can be brought to collection sites around the country, where they will be disposed of safely.

According to the DEA, "National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications." Last year, Americans turned in 324 tons of expired and unwanted medications.

National Take-Back Initiative collection sites in the Hartford area include the Hartford Police Department, 253 High Street; the East Hartford Police Department, 31 School Street; the West Hartford Police Department, 103 Raymond Road; and the Bloomfield Police Department, 330 Park Avenue.

To check for updates to the list of collection sites, and to find sites in other areas, visit the DEA's search page.
